If you are looking for an economical way to buy our pork, then you may want to consider buying in bulk. Purchasing a half or whole hog not only allows you to customize your order but to save money as well.
Pork is sold as whole or half hog. Price is based on hanging weight. What is hanging weight? It is the weight of the hog after skin, intestines, hooves and head is removed. The average weight of a half hog is approximately 95 - 120 lbs. A whole hog will average 190 to 240 lbs. The amount you take home varies based on the cuts you choose. You can expect around 75% of the hanging weight.
A few questions we hear...
How does it work? We contact you when we schedule your hog at the local meat processor. We deliver your hog to the locker. The locker will call you to get your cutting instructions. You pick up your meat (frozen and neatly packaged) from the locker when ready.
How much freezer space will I need? A half hog will need 3-4 cubic feet of freezer space and a whole hog will need 6-8 cubic feet.
Can I order year round? Bulk purchases are available periodically throughout the year. You can find out the availability by visiting this page.
What can I expect to pay? Currently, our bulk pork is selling for $1.50 a pound. This is based on the hanging weight. You pay us for the hog. You pay the local meat processor for the cutting, curing, packaging when you pick your meat up. Depending on your cutting order (how much meat you have cured, made into brats, etc.) you can expect to pay between $90-$100/ half hog for the processing.
How do I order? Either email or utilize the contact us tab and let us know the preferred method of communication. We will add your name to the list and let you know when to expect your order to be ready. We will also take a deposit of $50 at that time.
